Officially forming CAMOUFLAGE in the summer of 1984,
the band took its first step towards success when they entered their demo
cassette in a competition sponsored by one of Germany's regional public
radio stations. They had entered their radio debut "Voices & Images", and
promptly took first prize.

In the autumn of 1986, the group released the first version of their debut
single, 'The Great Commandment" on the Westside label. Their success, however, was not limited to Germany. In the United States, CAMOUFLAGE even broke a record when the re-mix version of "The Great Commandment" went to No. 1 in the Billboard dance charts twice (!), making entry into the Billboard Top 100 only a matter of time .Along with singles for "That Smiling Face" and "Neighbors", their first album "Voices and Images" was also released in 4 october 1988. After this release, people started to compare between CAMOUFLAGE and Depeche Mode. So, there were  many likely things, specially if you have heard Music for the Masses..."The Great Commandment", probably the best CAMOUFLAGE song is the perfect mix of "Here is the House", "Shake the Disease" and "Strangelove". Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against it!!

Camouflage 1988

In 19.9.1989, the second album, "Methods of Silence" was released. A
departure from the style of the first album, this album has more ambient
synth and poetically flowing lyrics. When we talk about this album, we must talk about 2 beautiful songs: "One Fine Day" and "Love is A Shield". If you never heard them - you don't know how sounds LOVE!!!

Methods of Silence

Two years later came the album "Meanwhile". Generally containing less
synth and more natural instrument sounds (even guitar!), this album is a
more direct lyrically, yet contains a mixture of "pop" and deeply emotional songs. Prior to the release of this album, Camouflage became a two member band with the departure of Oliver Kreyssig for reasons unknown.

In 1993 came the release of "Bodega Bohemia" with another over-the-seas hit "Suspicious Love".
In 1995 they have released next album "Spice Crackers" in limited edition.
"While Depeche Mode and Erasure are back we want to return too",- they said in 1997 and released they greatest hits "We Stroke the Flames".

Now CAMOUFLAGE are working on new material.
